shot partly because players haven't practiced it near as much as they have the 3. Before kids are even strong enough to shot it they're out there throwing it up. The 3 is the sexy shot. Everyone, even big guys like Tilmon, want to shoot them. :)

I personally think it's easier to learn to shoot from a marked distance than it is having to figure out how far you are and adjust your shot like a midrange requires. It's easier to learn the muscle memory from the same distance all the time.
