I.E., the fewer losses you have, the better you are...no matter the competition. (See 2007 KU)
It is a horribly flawed system, but one that we haven't broken free from (yet). The computers are great as they have been able to effectively add the strength of competition into a team's performance to look beyond just how many times a team has lost.
