Mizzou football has been very bad in the past. I witnessed it while in college from 1991-1996. Our BEST record was 3-7-1 in that span, with one and two win seasons to with it. Barry Odom is putting a competitive team on the field that is winning, and losing some close games. His players love him and are playing hard for him. I am confident they will make a bowl again this year. Sure, everyone had high hopes for this season, but lets see how recruiting goes and if the team can improve the next two years. We will struggle getting a decent coach to come here if we don't give the one we have a chance to succeed. Coaches don't want to get fired and have to go back to being a coordinator. That's why Tennessee struggled to find a replacement for Butch Jones, they kept firing coaches and the coaches they offered were turning them down. It's not just about the money being offered. You have to give a coach time to build the team the way they want. If Mizzou starts losing to bad teams, and getting blown out by their conference opponents, then there is a reason to be upset and think about a change. Fans *****ing about the losses to South Carolina and Kentucky need to calm down. You would all be singing his praises if we had won those games and our record was 6-2 right now. Have some perspective and realize that it is not easy to just find a new coach to win right away. Barry Odom is the right guy for the job. He is committed to winning and could bring Mizzou more success long term than anyone else. If we were to hit on a young coach with no ties to Mizzou, he would be gone in a few years anyway because one of the big programs would lure him with more money and a chance to win a championship and recruit better players. Top coaches want to be someplace they can win big or at least coach for the team where they played and have job stability. Barry is the only coach loyal to Mizzou that is fit for a head coaching job that I can think of. Iowa State hit with the Matt Campbell hire and they are giving him more money to stay, but they won't be able to keep him long term. How do you think Arkansas fans are liking their new coach? Just be patient, that is the best course for now.
