I agree that usually I'm not a fan of changing coaches and being patient. But Odom didn't have a complete and total rebuild on his hands. He was given resources and a strong core of talent to build around and develop. He quickly made junior high decisions based on his defensive scheme and talent, and quickly derailed his first year, even though the offense vastly improved doing enough to make the team bowl eligible and build momentum in year two. He also focused on details that are not win related...let's switch sides of the field to give us a advantage at home...Please really that is laughable.
In year two he continued to lose to teams with lesser talent and continued to field poorly coached players who made mistake after mistake.
Now in year 3 we are seeing the same Exhibit A: SC.....and the issue is we don't have a easy schedule going forward with programs that are in turmoil and have lame duck coaches. We will actually have to perform well even versus Memphis to get wins.
Mizzou isn't LSU a Blue Blood that can let the program bottom out and expect to rebound rather quickly if we hit the depths it might take us 5-10 years to get back to being competitive. Our margin of error is rather thin. So we must be bold and make a move quicker rather than later.
