you didn't name anyone which is fine. I know you remember the crap Pinkel took around here especially with his approach of WDWWD. People *****ed about his inexperienced staff (no big time experience) wanted coordinators fired, Pinkels own stubbornness, loyalty to his staff, all sorts of things,
Now that we're where we are, people wax nostalgic about the Pinkel era. They forget the meltdowns, the losses to Troy, Baylor (backs playing 10 yds off the receivers) and some bad losses.
Unlike you, I think concepts like 'sealing the borders' and us being a 'sleeping giant' are outdated. Times have changed, kids have changed, the '60's and '70's are long gone. Parity is real except for the teams like Alabama.
As is my usual m.o., I always say, let it play out. I can sit on my ass and think I see 100 things wrong with this program when I have no clue what really happens. Or I can think I know more than the coaches when I don't.
I'm not sure what I doubt more. Our ability to hire the right guy or the fan bases ability to be patient and let him build the program which will take years.
