The bible says there is no God. That is not the truth, nor what is meant in context.
If you listen to everything RG said, it's the same exact thing. Although he used the words, that wasn't what he was trying to convey. Anyone trying to make it into a meme is just plain lying about the context and intent.
What to look for when deciding what was meant is the context in which it was said. If you see them quoting bits and pieces, and not the full context, you know they're trying to misrepresent what was being said. You can say the words, in a particular context, as RG was attempting to do, and not be wrong.
Here is the video. You have to listen for what was being said, and understand he was interrupted while trying to explain the difference between conflicting "truth" offered from different parties, and not abstract truth.
This is exactly why Justice Robert Jackson said you never let your clients talk to the police, especially if you are innocent. Innocent statements get taken out of context and abused, and give a false impression of the truth.
