Thames was a gifted small forward before the injury....after the injury, he was a small forward with less mobility. Thames still had more range than KP; they haven't been side-by-side, but I'd guess that he still had more lateral quickness.
Puryear needs to be a physical banger - he's not athletic enough & doesn't have the range to play the wing. KP can be effect if he stays in the paint, fights for boards & loose balls.
There's just no way that KP ever scores at the rate that Thames did, nor is as efficient from 3.
