Mizzou is located in a small town in the middle of Missouri - a traditional white, conservative area which had low African American enrollment when I went there a long time ago. Based on more recent events it is regarded as a white man's school to an even higher degree. As one of the reporters of the Post Dispatch stated, kids from ST. Louis do not identify with Mizzou or the state of Missouri in general. They identify with St. Louis.
If Mizzou wants these recruits they will have to do much more than send a slick recruiter. They will have to establish relationships with high schools, coaches and the communities. This will take time.
