UCF agreed to this current system because it paid them more than they got in the old system.
Maybe they should return all of their checks if they feel the system is against them?
The reality is and has always been that a team needs to schedule among the toughest in the country to get into the playoff. There has been a focus from the committee to encourage teams/universities to take more chances in their scheduling in order to draw a best four at the end.
Rewarding UCF with their schedule into the top 4 playoff spots would undue all of that as the goal would not be to build a resume' of wins with no bad losses. The goal would be to survive undefeated at all costs (the cost being that the country would see pathetic scheduling across the country).
There is a chance for a G5 to make the playoff. That G5 needs to go on a multi year run. Do it consecutively. Only then will it be in the top to even get consideration for the final 4.
If they don't like it, then dominate D2. Or don't cash the checks and if enough other schools go that route, the G5 will find themselves split off from the P5 into their own subdivision and lose out on the checks going forward (cut their nose to spite their face).
