one to look at because it looks at total taxation (including local taxes) on an average income basis.
Kansas is around 12% and MO is about 11%.
two things that I see is how high Wisconsin is since they have supposedly one of the most conservative governors around, and how California is so low, but they are considered such a "tax burden" state by many on here
