mental health and firearms had never even been implemented. it's not like some law that was around for years. so the new law stopped the old law before it ever began. so we are back to right where we were for 99.9% of Obama's presidency.
there is literally no data to say the new law will increase violent crime etc b/c the old law was NEVER implemented.
a person who has been adjudicated as mentally defective is and has "always" been statutorily prohibited from owning or possessing firearms.
the problem with the Obama law was that it was just the IRS saying this person appears on our list as being incapable of managing their finances due to some mental state. but it was never adjudicated.
and it doesn't stop any current procedure to identify someone as mentally defective via the courts.
even the ACLU was against that obama era law. when the ACLU and the NRA are on the same side you have to question the original law.
also the number of people this affected was something like 65,000. i had the number looked up once beofre and posted it on TB, but the reality is its a very miniscule number of people.
