he knew saying He was God would cause his death, which was his and God's plan all along.

Who killed Jesus? God because this was ordained by soveriegn God. To even question this is to truly not understand the Bible or Christianity. God sent his Son to provide the righteousness man could not achieve on his own because of his sin nature.
