then, yes, you could make a case for that being a tacit approval of slavery. The most interesting thing about that statement was that there are clearly better examples of America's "greatness" than the pre-bellum south. WWII? Post WWII? Why would anyone choose that period of time and then make ridiculous remarks about family strength and slavery (which of course is the antithesis of family values).
