How much of a tax benefit would a couple paying $20k mortgage interest receive?

Currently around 30% of Americans itemize, with the GOP plan, I believe the number I saw was projected at 3%.

Take away the SIT deduction, increase the standard deduction to $12/24k, and only someone named "russ" would believe that the mortgage interest deduction is unaffected by this legislation.
