On top of that, if he actually knew any history of that era he would know that the few papers that did exist had already figured out tearing politicians a new ass sold a lot more papers. They were actually worse than our media now. No politician would stoop to address anyone in the press because it was already widely acknowledged that most political stories were almost pure hyperbole.
