physics exam I doubt there are many inner city kids anywhere passing it. So your dig at job performance missed its mark.
All schools have a hard time filling STEM jobs. But it is not just about money. As I said I have known many highly qualified people who attempted to teach and could not do it. Just knowing a subject well is no assurance of you being a good teacher.
The perks for teachers that fill the hard to find spots are not monetary. My physics classes are almost like teaching in a different school. The students are motivated, attentive and hardly ever have to be redirected. I absolutely love the subject but the type of students that are drawn to it is a major perk. I don't expect non-teachers to understand that but anyone who has ever been in a classroom understands just how nice that is.
