of people own guns but an additional 11% say they live in a household where guns are owned. Per paragraph two.

It says that gun owners tend to be white and rural. Like in chicago? I doubt the research was done in inner cities...you know, where the crime is.

Finally, i'm sure there are gun owners out there who don't want PEW or the government to know that they own guns and answer NO to the question on gun ownership.

The study may be legitimate and impartial, but i don't know how it can be very accurate.
