Seriously, is this racist?

Virginia Tech just got a commitment from the local HS stud football player.
He's a running back, runs a legit 4.35. He was second in the nation in the 100 meters, running a 10.4.
He's fast.
He is rated three stars and the 15th best player in virginia. He has a couple dozen offers, about seven from power five schools including north carolina and pittsuburgh.
He has amassed huge yardage, especially in the playoffs last season leading to the state championship.
I've seen him play. He's good. I've talked to people who know him, he's a decent kid.
I have one concern, he's white.
Did he get extra attention because he's a really fast white guy? His numbers are legit. He is not "fast for a white guy," he's fast.
Did tech get a solid college player or will he just be the next great white hype that underperforms?
My concern is based on his race. Is that racist?
