It opened up with some info about Vietnam in the 1800s and French colonization and Ho Chi Min trying to unify and save his country. I have seen half of the program and the US and US pols come out looking very bad. The ENTIRE endeavor was simply wrong.

And the "kids slugging it out" get nothing but love. The freaks and protesters were very much part of the dynamic. I haven't seen that part of the film yet.

You can "bet" all you want against Ken Burns. Did you think his film on the Civil War was partisan ? ha ha. Guy is an artist. He does great work. His piece on the Brooklyn Bridge is spectacular.
