thing: Whether or not Sterk is able to find a proven and established head coach (and recruiter) who agrees in principle to take the job.

Sterk will be kicking the tires all season with qualified candidates (more specifically, their agents) to find out who's interested and for how much.

If (big if) he can find a PROVEN head coach to replace Odom at the end of this season, then that's exactly what he will do.

If he can't find the right guy (i.e. a "home run" hire), then he will keep BO for a 3rd season.

Please explain why this message is being reported.
