They are not reliable. They are only good for peaking WITH storage. And even large large large storage facilities may not give more than hours of energy for small town loads.

When is Peak for the grid? 5-7PM. Tell me when solar is usable?

What percentage of windmills are operational at any one time due to maintenance alone? What percent of the time is there enough wind? During peak when winds are at their lowest ---dawn---dusk??
