are in their late 30's to late 40's so i'm guessing they've already put their weekend and nights when they were younger.

I think the police union is a pretty strong one. These cops i know leave a little after 6 and are home a little after 3 every day M through F. I've never known them to work weekend or nights and they must get 6-8 weeks a year of vacation. I've never seen an occupation get so much vacation time unless you consider teacher who have summers off. Don't cops also get to retire after 20 or 25 years and get like 70% of their pay for the rest of their life? I don't golf much anymore but when i did the course was full of former cops that were retired in their early 50's.
