knew we were going to struggle due to circumstances related to the previous coach. That is why Haith left to go to Tulsa. As an insider, he knew what was going to happen and split. Our AD did not want to spend big money on anyone else and have them quit or file a lawsuit against MU after they accepted the job. Any other coach except KA would have resigned and sued MU once MU hired them and THEN told the circumstances they would be coaching under. They would have never coached a game at MU.
As far as coaching, I do not think KA is as good of recruiter or motivator as Martin. Martin does not have a great reputation as an Xs and Os coach but KA was not a coaching genius either. KA had won a lot but it was at a level that did not translate to D1. Mainly recruiting. But, it is tough to win when you have fewer scholarships, are dealing with an NCAA investigation that hampers recruiting and start out with a bunch of knuckleheads as players. Jonathan Williams III (who seems like a decent kid) left because he could not get along with the players we had here. Those players he could not get along with are the ones that quit going to class, got arrested, etc.
