He has been very good at coaching up players who struggled with the previous coaching staff.

At Tennessee his first year:
Trae Golden scored 13 PPG after scoring 3 PPG the year before.
Jeronne Maymon scored 12 PPG after scoring 2 PPG the year before.
Jordan McRae scored 8 PPG after scoring 1.8 PPG the year before.

At Cal his first year:
Tyrone Wallace scored 17 PPG after scoring 11 PPG the year before.
Jordan Mathews scored 13 PPG after scoring 8 PPG the year before.
Jabari Bird scored 10 PPG after scoring 8 PPG the year before.
