were the deciding factor, Christians would go around stoning adulterers and killing homosexuals and sorcerers. Treating parents with disrespect would be capital offenses. Non-virgins would be killed on their wedding nights. Whole towns would be slaughtered if there was one "non-believer".

It's not the passages of the book, it's the willingness to act out to the literal words of the book.
