that Comey both may have not been doing a good job AND that the timing of the firing couldnt have come at a more damaging time, politically.
Comey probably should have been fired a long time ago. But Trump praised him for reopening the case on HRC a week before the election -- even though it was wrong and led to nothing. Similarly, he undoubtedly praised him (behind closed doors) for his testimony on Huma Abedin -- even though it was wrong and led to nothing.
Comey was Trump's whipping boy. Im not sad that hes gone. But you cant deny that AS SOON AS the heat starts to get turned up on the Russia investigation, Comey is fired. On the surface, you have to admit it seems fishy. On top of that, the reasons that the admin is giving are ludicrous. No one believes that he was fired for being impartial. If that is Trumps chief concern, why not hire an independent prosecutor? No, they continually stop those talks as soon as they start. Just ask McConnel.
And beyond even that, Trump et al continue to tout that nothing has been found in 7 months, which a) yes they have and b) maybe it would move faster with his administration's cooperation. They have done everything they can to block this investigation. Sorry, but nothing about this screams "Im innocent!"
