According to the video: production of an electric car generates about 25,000 lbs of CO2 and a conventional car generates about 16,000 lbs.
Depending your state and how the electricity is generated, the amount of CO2 used with an electric car vs. gas car can vary widely. In a state like Missouri which is 82% coal, a gas car only emits around 3,000 more lbs of CO2 annually so it would take about 3 years to make up the gas/electric difference in manufacturing.
But in state like California that relies a lot less on coal, the difference is about 9,000 lbs difference between gas and electric so after one year the electric car is emitting less CO2.
