It has nothing to do with the pitch, but many of the recruits and parents know exactly how horrible your program has been for a quite awhile now..
They also look at Martins history of wins vs losses and his post season record. Especially at Cal where he showed he can recruit very well , but still only went to the NCAA tourney once out of 3 seasons and was bounced first round.
They can also add 3 seasons prior to that at Tennessee and see that in the last 6 years at power 5 schools, he's been to the tourney twice. Won a play in game and 2 NCAA tourney games all in the same year. Obviously the other 5 years he had zero NCAA tourney wins

Mizu will be better next year for sure, but I think this is going to be a lot tougher than many of you think.
Playing in the SEC is your big advantage here. Not difficult to pick up wins and finish in the top 5. You finish 5th and you're a bubble team. Not sure you could ask for much more given the recent history of your program.
