First of all, I don't think Purdue is in a big hurry to get rid of Matt Painter.
If for some reason they did, they might opt for someone outside of the Keady-Painter-Martin tree.
Even if they did want Martin, that means he's probably got your program up and running again and there's really not much of an advantage from jumping from one to the other if the one you're currently at is doing well and the other one isn't. If in 4 years Missouri is a Top 25 and Sweet Sixteen team while Purdue has struggled and making a coaching change I don't think Martin gives up what he has built there just so he can say he's coaching his alma mater.
Regarding him being a "jumper" I don't think it's necessarily an accurate portrayal of his journey. 99% of coaches would leave Missouri State for a job in a power conference just like he did. Then at Tennessee he was treated so poorly by the fans that nobody can blame him for moving on when the Cal offer came. I don't know everything about Cal (I seem to recall he coached a full year there without a finalized contract) but I never sensed that was his ultimate destination. Being an East St. Louis native, I think this was his move home and I think he'll be there as long as you guys like they job he's doing.
