I advocated for Marshall as well in 2011

Marshall was more experienced at that point and had previous NCAA Tournament success with Winthrop, but he hadn't made an NCAA Tournament at Wichita State yet. Cuonzo Martin's Missouri State team actually beat him on the final day of the regular season to claim the Valley regular season title (of course, Indiana State beat both of them the next week in St. Louis).

Given what we knew at the time in 2011, I actually thought Martin was a better candidate and a better fit for Mizzou. But I'm sure Marshall would have won big here too.
