greatness as an AD in charge of a D1 basketball program wasn't in who he hired, but who he was rumored to have spoken too; Calipari in the Quin days, Matt Painter, Greggggggggg Marshall a few times.

Oh sure he brought home Frank Freakin' Haith and Kim Anderson but the ordinary AD could never be linked with supposed conversations with big candidates like Director of Athletics Michael F. Alden.

He was truly one of the greats.
