up from #25 last week.
Not getting a lot of love from the poll. We were at #21 before losing to SC. Now we beat Florida and we aren't even back to that level yet. We would be around 17-18 probably if we hadn't lost to SC.
Not that it matters a lot at this point. The SEC is just devalued by the human poll across the board as compared to the RPI rankings. Which is understandable to a certain degree.
Among top 25 teams, the largest discrepancy between the poll and the RPI ranking is with Mizzou and Hawaii. A difference of 15 for both. Mizzou has an RPI rank of 7 and a poll of 22. Hawaii is ranked 13 and has an RPI of 28. We will be seeded, and Hawaii won't. Bank on it.
As for the rest of the SEC, Florida is ranked 9, but has an RPI of 5. Kentucky is ranked 23, but has an RPI of 16. TAMU is ranked 30 but has an RPI of 24.
If Mizzou can finish with an RPI of around 10, give or take, I'm feeling better about their being seeded, perhaps even in a high enough seed to avoid the top 4 teams in the nation. Which would mean something in the 10-12 range. Frankly, part of me thinks I'd rather we not be seeded and take our chances with taking out a team like Kansas, as opposed to being seeded 14-16 and having a home regional but then facing a Nebraska, Wisconsin, or Texas in the second round. But that would mean no home regional. And this team has played itself into a situation where they deserve to play in Columbia MO.
