and is descended from a branch of the family which fought for the south. Tom Light is from Texas, descended from a Sgt in the Alabama infantry who didn't like the outcome of the war and moved to Texas.

It's amazing to me I had descendants from both sides who relocated to Rolla/Salem/Bunker immediately after the Civil War--one side of the family from Pennsylvania and the other from South Carolina. Their families were joined by marriage within one generation.
