the mid-major ranks (e.g. Pinkel in football, Mike Anderson in basketball) we've had the most success.
It's a good hiring strategy for a school like ours.
An exception is if you can acquire a proven P5-level coach due to special circumstances (e.g. Ben Howland in basketball, which was a tremendous opportunity we squandered).
