Better than I had expected given the generally weak non conference schedule and the lack of anything close to what you would reasonably call a signature win so far. And our first 8 matches in the SEC are pretty weak too, with the exception of Alabama, who is at #33 in the first RPI. Our toughest SEC matches are backloaded onto the second half of the conference slate where we take on Kentucky twice (#18), Florida (13), and TAMU (37). Even if we keep winning the general weakness of the conference in RPI will drag us down some. Really need to go 3-2 against the other top 4 teams in the conference.
Here are the best teams in the RPI that we played non conference:
14 BYU
27 Utah
28 Pitt
41 Boise St
43 Miami OH
Went 2-3 in those matches against top 50 teams. Could have/should have gone 5-0 or at least 4-1. Utah and Pitt came in with pretty solid initial RPI rankings, which helped us.
