B1G?
The Big Ten tried to recruit Mizzou to replace Northwestern in the early 90's, but MU committed to the Big XII. Norm Stewart really wanted to go to the Big Ten, but when the decision was made, he stuck with it, and publicly castigated UT and CU for playing footsies under the table with the PAC.
Then, Jim Delaney releases the short list of targets that he wanted to pursue to join the B1G, and Mizzou's name was on. Our brilliant governor said, in an unofficial capacity as an alum and a fan, that was worth looking into, and suddenly we're accused of destabilizing the Big XII. Then we find out that De Loss Dodds was courting the B1G a year before, but they had a "Tech problem".
I kinda hope that the B1G makes a third public play at Mizzou, with your scenario, and Mizzou publicly responds that we have no interest, especially because kU refused to maintain our on field relationship.
That would be sweet.
