There's such a cruddy public opinion out there of him (a lot of it deserved, given) that I don't think people are chomping at the bit to support him.
I'm known as the fence riding centrist moron in most any group (though I do lean right,) and this year people are reaching out to me for that reason. A few of them have admitted they're voting Trump but won't tell anyone. I think that's pretty common. Much like a white business owner wont speak up on their opinions on BLM, yet they certainly have them I think a lot of people support Trump and just don't want to say.
I'm on of those people as well. I'm leaning 51/49 Trump versus Johnson/NOTA. I won't tell anyone in real life outside of my home that I'm leaning Trump because there's just too much potential backlash as a person with something to lose.
I could always fight off the racism accusations when I voted for Romney and McCain because they were honestly good people with ideals in which I believed. Can't really do that with Trump. He's kind of an idiot, and while I do like a lot of his ideas there really hasn't been a line in the sand drawn on a lot of issues by either party.
