Although city officials have said publicly that only the additional 1 percent would be used for the airport terminal, the hospitality group said in a news release that the city will put all the revenue from taxes on hotel and motel rooms into a new "city-controlled" economic development fund.

The ballot language for the measure, called Proposition 1, states that the city will use revenues from the tax for "tourism and economic development purposes, including construction of a new airport terminal related improvements."
