What great bitterness and blind hate the composer of the "good essay" seems to harbor. And this piece is rife with tired stereotypes, the idea that we seek to punish success is just one of them. A view here from a progressive and proud liberal - a term I prefer and will use in this response.
Liberals do not say that one is not responsible for one's life, to the contrary Liberals embrace of personal vision, individual expression of a personal vision is evidence thereof. As for the placing of blame, that seems to me a human trait. You see Conservatives and Liberals alike in the practice. In fact, Trump utilizes old bromides of blaming others - Illegals for instance for the woes of the nation and for the struggles of a once prosperous blue collar middle class.
As for government, it has proven invaluable in addressing problems and needs that the private sector is unable to provide at equal cost. The USPS, highway systems, air traffic control, food and worker safety, infrastructure, police and fire protection are just a few examples.
As for this paragraph from the good essay, just a POS providing no examples or proof of its charges: "I despise progressive leftism because it cannot survive without lies. It denies biology, rewrites history, and pretends morality is just a matter of personal preference. It silences truth under the excuse of “safety” and “inclusion,” but what it really wants is control. A nation built on lies will collapse, and progressivism is laying the dynamite at America’s foundation."
Ha ha ha - moving on, Liberals do not "thrive on division", but recognizes that folks differ and cannotbe easily fit into to one size fitting all.
As for IT (meaning I guess Liberalism "destroying prosperity", that is laughable. The most prosperous time in our nation's history from about 45-75 was one where Liberalism was the guiding force. Liberals also embrace families - but do not necessarily narrow the definition to husband wife offspring. Liberals in fact embrace the idea of chosen families rather than purely genetic ones.
Liberals do not mock faith. We are huge proponents of faith, but we do not exclude varieties of faith - all forms of theism, JudeoChristian, Hindu, Muslim, Pantheists, and extending to agnostics and Atheism.
