be told that they are perfectly normal, that they are victims of… Something, and society is evil for not embracing them.

Adolescence is confusing enough for kids that are "normal". For those that have troubles, or other issues, they don't need some 23 year old "education expert" who weighs 350 pounds with blue hair, tattoos and more nose rings than nostrils who happens to be their seventh grade teacher that they're trapped in the wrong body. Or some pseudo psychological academic bullschit like that.
