I think he makes good points. He believes that despite the lack of an agreement, both Putin & Trump showed very good statesmanship and broke the narrative that the Russians wouldn't talk or negotiate. They showed that Russia in fact wants a peace agreement, rather than the cease fire that the war hawks in Europe, especially the UK are pushing for.

As a side note, the Russians learned the duplicity of NATO when they signed the Minsk 2 agreement and NATO just used the time to rearm & continue training Ukraine's military & goading Russia into a war.

They learned their lesson.

They had offered before the war ever started to sign a peace agreement that documented NATO promises to stop expanding eastward, putting more nuclear missiles on their border, capable of hitting the major Russian cities within minutes.

NATO refused a peace agreement, opting instead for a cease fire... with the later admitted duplicity of using the respite to gear up for war.

Ukraine would have kept their territory and avoided the war had they all agreed at that time, but they foolishly followed the lead of the warhawks.

Now they can get the same deal, but lose the Oblasks that they had been persecuting, and who voted to secede from Ukraine.

Unfortunately, I think it is pretty likely that they will foolishly fight to continue the war even though they are getting pounded and can't possibly push Russia out now.

If they go that route, Trump should clearly acquesce to their decision and hand the reins over to Ukraine and Europe and wash our hands of the war. We could continue to sell them weapons if they like, but we're not financing it, nor putting our military at risk.
