They had an "open competition" for QB until the start of the second game. No starter was named during or after camp. Cook played the first half of the first game and Horn the second half. But Horn wasn't allowed to do anything but run the clock. "Officially" it was still a competition at that point, but it was decided early on that Cook was the starter. And Cook got essentially every other snap that year.

You are thinking earlier than that when Bazelak was named the starter very early in camp over Tyler Macon in 2021. Or maybe Cook over Horn in 2022 when Horn was a true freshmen. But it was clear in 2023 Drink was just playing games with a fake competition.

Please explain why this message is being reported.
