First, not sure what you mean by a "few" percent. I've been over 5 for awhile, now around 4.5. A failed bank shouldn't matter with a CD, since it is guaranteed by gov't up to $500,000 for husband and wife.

Also, I don't see us on the verge of any war, even though that is possible but then you could always say its possible. Our biggest threat is China, especially if our "leaders" don't have the guts or sense to indicate to our enemies we may engage militarily. There's a reason putin hit Ukraine when biden was president.
