Read SC Durham's report and the recently declassified annexes. The documents were acquired by Dutch intelligence and shared with our CIA. The Dutch claimed they got them through clandestine means from Russian Intel. Durham interviewed Bernardo, who said he didn't recall the emails and that there were phrases included that he would not have written. Durham indicated he could not authenticate the emails, although much of the information in them was factual. Durham concluded they are composites reconstructed from one or more emails using a Word program, as well as having been translated from English to Russian and back to English. Durham did not conclude the documents were part of a Russian Intel deception or disinformation campaign.
After the CIA received the information from Dutch Intel, Dir. Brennan made a phone call to his Russian counterpart. After this conversation, the Dutch lost contact with their Russian asset, who was the source of the Bernardo emails.
