large scale war. We planned on a proxy war with Russia, instigated by the CIA, US UK & perhaps a reluctant NATO. We prepared them for a few years, armed them well & gave them much help with strategy & intelligence, killing 5 Russian generals & sinking one of their ships early on. We also destroyed the Nord Stream pipeline, put sanctions on them & sat back and waited for them to be worn down like we were in Vietnam.
Russia, meanwhile went in to help the eastern Ukrainians who were being shelled by their own government, and were asking for Russian help & wanted to become part of Russia after the CIA instigated coup against the president they had elected. Russia sent in a relatively small force, expecting Ukraine to negotiate early on.
Ukraine came out guns blazing, however, with a lot of help from NATO & the US. Russia had to revamp their strategies & adjust to the newer weapons and call up a much larger force. They didn't want to destroy Ukraine & the people, whom they considered their own people, especially in the east. They also didn't want to pull NATO into the war, so they toned things down.
But they still showed Ukraine that they couldn't win the war, and got them to the negotiating table where they had agreed on a rough outline of the end to the war. But the UK & US leaders gave Zelenski orders to tear it up. & promised that they would have their backs. So he pulled out of the tentative agreement. They are undoubtedly now kicking themselves for doing so. They are going to get a far worse deal now & they've lost many more lives and their country has been torn even further apart.
Meanwhile the US & NATO have spent many billions and depleted their missile and anti-missile supplies. We couldn't send any more Patriot anti-missile systems, so had one of our allies promise to send Ukraine 3 or 4 of theirs. We promised to replace them for them, but there will now be a multi-year wait for them to replenish their own defenses, even as the danger of a direct war with Russia grows. They are very vulnerable, as is most of Europe. Russia's hypersonic missiles have shown the ability to get through our anti-missile systems in both Ukraine and in Israel where Iranian missiles were getting through the famed Iron Dome defenes of Israel.
The US does not have the capacity currently to be cranking out those missiles to replace the ones we've already sent, and to be able to supply Europe & Israel with what they would need. Israel was allegedly down to something like a 6 day supply. Two defensive missiles are needed for every incoming missile & both Iran & Russia are on a war manufacturing schedule. They're cranking them out much faster than we are.
Keep in mind too, that Europe doesn't have much of a standing army compared to Russia & the US has had a significan recruiting shortage for several years now. If we're dragged into a war, China is likely to attack Taiwan, giving us huge wars on two fronts, and Iran is pretty likely to be striking Israel again at any time, and like Russia, China, Pakistan & N. Korea, they're likely to be getting nukes at any time as well.
The US isn't really in a position to be bullying other countries around anymore. Many countries are already getting very indignant about that, and even some of our allies see us as the bully now. BRICS is becoming stronger as NATO is weakening.
