slaughter the Canaanites to take over the land.
Problem is.. Jews were always Canaanites, and most of the battles they claim, never happened.
But pretty much all their texts came into final form after they were a conquered people being passed from Babylonian to Persia to Greece to Rome.
So it makes sense their stories evolved with some glorious powerful past for the people to hope to be restored.
