Obviously Boateng could potentially take a big leap and surpass Mack at some point.
It's also possible instead of going with Pierce at the 3 spot they go with Boateng or Crews, but I really see Crews as more of a bench player. He rebounds decently for his size but his defense is at best average.
I'm sure there will be times that Mitchell and Pierce are the forwards with Phillips on the bench, we saw those two as the forwards fairly often last year. In fact, that may be the starting forwards in some games unless the other team has a big 5, in which case we'll see Phillips or possibly Burns if he comes along well. Northweather will provide some nice depth at the 5 spot and occasionally 4 if other bigs are in foul trouble. Northweather had a few good scoring games last year, he can definitely shoot from three.
I'm not sure what to expect from Porter. As a freshman he was great (especially for a freshman), he hasn't been quite as productive since then but when you look at his individual games he's definitely had some very good scoring and rebounding games. We may see extended minutes from him when he's hitting his shot and other games where his minutes are few. If he really turns it on and Pierce is about the same as last year, we may see times where Porter is playing instead of Pierce. Otherwise, having him as Mitchell's backup probably makes sense.
The overall depth is good, as usual it will be a question of how well they mesh, do they play defense well, and who can be counted on to get a quality shot when the shot clock is winding down.
