...and even now that downtown KCMO is "better" I can't help but notice tons of news articles and chatter on this board about this crime and that street racing and this homicide and that homeless problem in KCMO etc

KC folks talking sh** at STL downtown crime problems is sort of like when you see Washington DC people talking smack at Baltimore. Yes one of the cities is currently a bit more recovered than the other, but you both have long histories of hood violence and neither is fully out of the woods yet by any means
