There was never a defined objective…..In Clausewitz's theory, the "objective" in war refers to the political goal that a nation seeks to achieve through military force. It's the original motive for engaging in war and should be the guiding principle for determining military aims and the necessary level of effort.
War is a tool for achieving political objectives, and the objective is the ultimate aim that justifies the use of violence.
What was the objective in Afghanistan? How would “victory” be defined? What military strategy/resources would be used to meet the objective?
