Ruin the next four years, Trump's legacy, and maybe the country by overplaying this debt cutting hand.
Like most sane people, I would like to make the debt disappear as quickly as possible. But that may not be in one year or 10. But if we can do it for one year, we can do it for two, and then four and then maybe, just maybe our grandchildren will have no fear of national debt.
Your analogy about the speeding machine slowing more gradually is a good one. The problem is that it will take other drivers in the next generation to continue to pump the brakes.
